Honoring a Wrestling Institution: Ohio Valley Wrestling & Danny Davis
Spending time at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Kentucky, was more than just another stop in my wrestling journey—it was an opportunity to be around one of the most respected training grounds in the industry. OVW has been a proving ground for some of the biggest names in wrestling, and its reputation as a top-tier developmental system is well-earned.
One of the greatest honors was dealing with Danny Davis, the head trainer and founder of OVW, who played a key role in shaping WWE’s developmental talent and creating superstars. His knowledge, experience, and commitment to the craft were second to none. It is well known Danny was the kind of trainer who didn’t just teach wrestling—he taught respect, discipline, and what it truly meant to make it in this business.
Learning from a mind like his was a privilege, and being in an environment where so many legends were forged was an unforgettable experience. OVW wasn’t just a training facility—it was a dojo of dedication, hard work, and passion for professional wrestling.

In the gym, heavy squats, deadlifts, and bench presses build the raw power needed to lift opponents and absorb the punishing blows of the ring. Explosive movements like power cleans and sled pushes develop the speed and agility crucial for executing crisp, dynamic maneuvers. But weight training is only half the fight—inside the ring, hours are spent drilling holds, reversals, and high-impact slams, conditioning the body to withstand the relentless pace of a match.
